From Para to Page: How a Century of Tradition Won Best in Effectiveness
At Sunrise Spices, the journey has always been about more than just the perfect blend of flavors. For over 100 years, they have been a staple in the kitchens of Bengal. During Durga Puja 2025, as their lead experiential marketing agency, we decided to take the brand out of the kitchen and into the heart of the Para (neighborhood). Mindshaft Media Pvt Ltd being a brand activation agency in India that prioritizes cultural soul over commercial noise, we preserved these narratives through a landmark initiative: Sunrise Pujor Saatkahon.
We are thrilled to share that this campaign has been recognized with the Best in Effectiveness award. This honor celebrates not just the scale of the reach we achieved, but the deep, measurable impact we made by connecting a legacy brand with the regional heartbeat of Bengal.
The Vision: Preserving Bengal’s Heartbeat
Durga Puja is the world’s largest public art festival, yet the smaller, grassroots stories of regional committees are often overshadowed by city lights. Our objective was clear: use Sunrise’s legacy to empower these unheard voices. We moved beyond traditional sponsorship to become storytellers, inviting over 1,500 Puja committees from across the state to share their Saatkahon, their unique seven chapters of history, community, and devotion.
A Journey of Community and Celebration
The campaign was a massive phygital movement that spanned several months:
- The Diaries: We curated 631 original stories from local committees, documenting everything from ancient rituals to modern social themes.
- The People’s Choice: Bengal responded with overwhelming passion, casting 65,769 verified votes to support their local heroes.
- From Spice to Sindoor: The experience culminated on Dashami with celebrity-led Sindoor Khela at the top-performing Pujos, weaving a 100-year legacy into the festival’s most emotional ritual.
Why it Worked: The Power of Effectiveness
Winning Best in Effectiveness is a testament to the tangible results of this cultural integration. As an experiential marketing agency, we didn’t just create noise; we built a lasting archive. Our role as the brand activation agency in India for this project was to ensure every touchpoint felt authentic:
- Massive Reach: Our influencer and digital efforts touched over 1 million people, while our e-book was downloaded over 3,500 times by users wanting to keep these stories forever.
- Earned Trust: The initiative generated an incredible 7 Crore in PR value, as regional and national media outlets recognized the Saatkahon as a vital cultural archive.
- A Lasting Tribute: We immortalized these narratives in a premium Coffee Table Book, titled ‘When the Goddess Goes Home, Her Stories Stay,’ ensuring that the pride of 500+ neighborhoods lives on bookshelves for years to come.
